ABOUT SPAIN
Spain is situated in Southern Europe, and is the largest nation on the Iberian Peninsula, Spain also includes the Balearic Islands and the Canary Islands, the capital city which is also the largest city in Spain is Madrid, the official language of Spain is Spanish, although due to a high level of immigration other languages are widely spoken including English, German and Italian, the population of Spain is in excess of 46 million, while many religions are practiced in Spain the vast majority of the Spanish population are Roman Catholics.
Spain is dominated by high mountains mainly the Pyrenees and the Sierra Nevada with several rivers running through them, to the east of Spain is the Mediterranean sea which is where the Balearic Islands are situated, to the north of Spain is the Bay of Biscay and to the west of Spain is the Atlantic Ocean where the Canary Islands can be found just off the coast of Africa, the climate in Spain is temperate on the Mediterranean coast, temperatures are pleasant during the summer months, spring and autumn tends to be the rainy season, inland the temperatures are more extreme with very cold and snowy winters and very hot summers.
